By fostering a collaboration between faculty, staff, and the Hoosier community for high impact student learning and for improved sustainability, IU uses the campus and its transportation, food, resource use, energy and built environment, landscape, and business systems—as laboratories for learning sustainability.
The use of campus as a lab reflects our belief that when it comes to sustainability, students often learn best by doing. And, that unleashing the creativity and innovative spirit of faculty and students is a win-win. It leads to academic and professional growth of students, while also improving the operations side of the university.
