Space Heater Exchange

Heat people, not spaces – space heater exchange

Are you a faculty or staff member who uses a space heater in your office? Trade in your functioning space heater for a free electric blanket.

In alignment with the IU Climate Action Plan, the IU Office of Sustainability encourages the avoidance of using personal space heaters on campus. Electric blankets use up to 90% less energy than a typical portable electric space heater. By switching to an electric blanket, you’ll save energy, minimize fire risk, help HVAC systems to function properly, and stay cozy all winter long!

To learn more about IU's energy saving measures including temperature setpoints, click here. If your office temperature is outside of IU’s temperature set points, submit a help ticket to have your space checked by IU’s facility operations staff.

The Space Heater Exchange program has reach capacity for the season. Please contact sustain@iu.edu with questions.
