The IU Office of Sustainability is pleased to welcome Quentin Gilly as the new Director of Campus Sustainability at IU Bloomington.
Quentin, a Harvard alum, returns to his alma mater at IU Bloomington, bringing sixteen years of experience as a researcher, educator, and energy and sustainability professional from his time at Harvard. A native Hoosier from Eminence, IN, Quentin is thrilled to be back home, where he can leverage his expertise to promote the well-being of people in the Hoosier state, right here on the Bloomington campus. His goal is to ensure that the IU Bloomington campus becomes more resilient, more efficient, and provides a sustainable built environment through practical solutions, all while supporting teaching and learning activities on campus.
Quentin holds a bachelor's degree in Geography from IU Bloomington and a master's degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University. For the past ten years, as a member of the Harvard Office for Sustainability, he developed and implemented building energy-efficiency retrofit projects, streamlined building maintenance programs, and managed the facility condition assessment program and budget for 270 Harvard buildings. He also led a team of student workers in the peer-to-peer sustainability educational program at Harvard College, known as the Resource Efficiency Program. Additionally, Quentin is a Lecturer on Sustainable Laboratory Design and Operations at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and is a Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers.
Expressing his enthusiasm about his new role, Quentin said, "IU Bloomington holds a special place in my heart. I had an amazing college experience here, and the education I received gave me a great start to a lifetime of growth and learning, which I'm very proud of today." He added, "It's been twenty years since I graduated from IU, and I'm thrilled to be back to work on the Bloomington campus."
